Context

ViaDirect builds indoor wayfinding for the places people get lost in — shopping malls, business complexes, airports and large events. The system spans interactive kiosks, mobile maps over QR, and embedded web maps, running across 210 installations in 35 countries from a Paris headquarters.

I was the sole designer on these deployments, owning UX and UI end to end for venues with almost nothing in common: a Paris mall, a 600,000 m² business complex in Singapore, a mining convention in Arequipa, a regeneration district in Hamburg. The same interface had to hold up whether someone was looking for a store, a meeting room, or a conference session — and it had to be usable in one shot, standing up, by someone who had never seen it before.

Hamburg, Germany. A 419,000 m² mixed-use district in HafenCity — 13 kiosks plus mobile maps covering 94,000 m² of retail, built to Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield standards.

Aulnay-sous-Bois, France. A 90,000 m² regional mall with ~12M annual visitors — 9 custom kiosks, upgraded to V4 with store names surfaced directly on the floor-plan blocks.
